On December 1, the Earth Sciences and Map library, located in McCone Hall, held a special open house to show off its new reading room lounge for use by students, faculty and staff.
The Earth Sciences and Map Library develops research-level collections and services to support the teaching, research, and learning needs of the Department of Earth and Planetary Science, Department of Geography, and Seismological Laboratory.
They also have one of the largest map collections in California with a collection that covers physical geography and the geosciences including structural geology, tectonics, oceanography, seismology, geochemistry, glaciology, geophysics, atmospheric science, planetary science, geomorphology, climatology, and cartography.
EPS staff members enjoyed the presentation from library staff that included the use of the library world famous digital globe.
It should be noted that the digital globe includes material provided by EPS faulty member Nicholas Swanson-Hysell (as seen in the photo below).
