The Earth and Planetary Sciences Department welcomes William Boos, PhD, to the department as its newest Associate Professor and faculty member. Hailing from Yale University, Dr. Boos completed his doctoral degree in Atmospheric Science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and is focusing on climate and atmospheric science, with an interest in monsoons and precipitation.
Dr. Boos’ publication record indicates an excellent combination of basic theory, modeling and observational analysis. In recognition of his outstanding research Dr. Boos received the James R. Holton Junior Scientist Award from the American Geophysical Union. He is also a recipient of an NSF career award
With his dynamic background, and prior teaching record, Dr. Boos will be an excellent teacher at the undergraduate and graduate levels at Berkeley and a fine addition to the department.
