Smoke drifting into the Bay Area from the numerous fires burning in Southern California created numerous spectacular sunsets that were visible from the UC Berkeley campus.
Numerous students and faculty on the campus took the time from their busy final schedules to marvel at the unique smoky sunsets.
The high-pressure system that brought the smoke into the Bay Area is also preventing much needed rain from reaching the region.
The study of these unique, and volatile, atmospheric changes are a hallmark of our department.
