Introduction to MAUD

MAUD is a Rietveld code to analyze diffraction spectra. It has been written and is maintained by Luca Lutterotti at the University of Trento. The Java code can be downloaded from his website that also contains a tutorial (MAUD). In Berkeley we are using it to analyze neutron diffraction data, especially collected with the TOF diffractometer HIPPO at LANSCE and synchrotron diffraction images. Emphasis is on texture. Below are procedures and examples to practice.

Download a tutorial for texture analysis of HIPPO neutron diffraction data.

The instructions for neutron diffraction have been published in Powder Diffraction 25, 283-296 (2010)

To download with Explorer use right mouse button: "Save target as..." or "Save link as..." The pdf file gives instructions, the zip file contains test data.

The tutorial is in press at "Powder Diffraction". It consists of a pdf file with figures and an Appendix with a step-by-step procedure (doc file and zip files). Any comments on how we could improve it are appreciated. Also available are ALS2012 Rietveld Workshop presentations.

To download with Explorer use right mouse button: "Save target as..." or "Save link as..." The word file gives instructions, the zip files contain test data. Start with Nickel-coin.

Part I - Basic Analysis

Part II - Multiphase (shale) and High pressure (DAC) (still being revised)
