Penny Wieser

Job title:
Assistant Professor
Bio/CV:

I am an igneous petrologist and volcanologist using erupted melts, crystals, gases and volcanic aerosols to understand volcanic systems. My research group at the moment are trying to find better ways to work out the depth of magma storage in volcanic systems, and to better understand the release of volatile elements such as S into the Earth's atmosphere. We use a combination of state-of-the art microanalysis (e.g. Raman spectroscopy, SEM, EPMA, LA-ICP-MS) and Open-source Python3 tools to model the data we get!
